Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work?

During cryotherapy, your practitioner will apply a freezing agent to the skin lesion. The area will become numb and you may feel a tingling/stinging sensation as the area is frozen. Procedures typically only take a few minutes and is usually well tolerated.

Following treatment, the area may feel numb for up to an hour. You may also see a blister form at the treatment site. This is completely normal and will heal on its own. The area will take a lighter appearance and will scab over within a week. Eventually, the scab will fall off, revealing new, healthy smooth skin beneath.

Cryotherapy offers the ideal treatment for:

-Skin tags

-Sun damage

-Age spots

-Milia

-Warts

-Cherry spots

-Verrucaes

Is it safe?

Cryotherapy is well established in the medical field. It has been used for over 200 years as the gold standard treatment for removing most skin lesions. The procedure is sterile, requires no skin cutting, no bleeding and no risk of infection from the treatment.

CO2 - also called Dry Ice is available to to buy from pharmacies and supermarkets as a wart or verruca treatment. However, this has been found to be ineffective. The reason for this is because the temperature only reaches -20'C on the skin and so will often require many treatments to achieve any result.

Is it painful?

Generally, little or no discomfort is experienced during the procedure. However, some patients often describe a small stinging sensation.
